Message ...for most of its life and had a lot of thrust bearing wear when I had the engine apart recently. I don't think it's the max PP that is at fault here. The fact is, the stiffer the pressure plate, the more force that has to be applied to it (and hence the crankshaft thrust bearing) in order to disengage the clutch.

If you're really worried about it, then I suggest you use a stock clutch. I personally moved from the OS Giken twin plate to the RPS Max street as I actually want it to last for a decent amount of time but be able to hold 500 rwhp.

I think if you are continually having issues with your thrust bearing then perhaps it's time to look at a different type of bearing. Personally I went with the ACL race style bearing instead of OEM.

:I'm talking about the old style pressure plate (mine bought sring 2004) before fulcrum pins were moved by RPS to reduce the force required to depress the clutch pedal.
:I have experienced many engine break on the crankshaft trust bearing back face due to some strange forward pressure appled against the crankshaft. RPS rep has always denied responsability to be related to MAX pp (with clutch pedal had to be backed-up to provide more hydraulic pressure to fully disengage the clutch disc).
:They told me in 2005, following a request to exchange the MAX pp for the Sport pp, it won't solve the problem that was something else. I have finally made this change last summer. A problem with one main and one rod bearing clearance has requested to me to open the oil pan again.
:There was NO trust bearing back face wear found, trust bearing width measured was only .001" smaller (1.135") than a new one (1.136").
:Is there any other RPS MAX pp user who have had a similar problem using it? It has cost me so much time and money to rebuilt all these engines since 2004 so I would like to know if I'm the only one or if RPS is in fault to have denied the responsability of my last 3 years nightmare!
:Thanks for your support if exist (by the way, I drive a canadian Z at about stage 10 or 550 hp max at 18 psi boost)
